Leupold GX-4 Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

The Leupold GX-4 is Leupold’s top-of-the-line range finder. Functionally, it’s equivalent to the GX-2, with advanced features such as slope compensation, Prism Lock, and True Golf Range™. But, like the Leupold GX-3, it sports a sturdier, solid aluminum frame and a red OLED display that’s very easy to read against dark backgrounds.

It’s also every bit as stylish looking.

Leupold GX-4

Leupold GX-4: Overview

Like all the Leupold golf range finders reviewed, the GX-4 is lightweight and compact, and has vertically-oriented optics that allows the device to be used with one hand.

Leupold took a chance in the design of the GX-4. The device can operate as a tournament-legal range finder that provides only line-of-site distance measurements. By switching out the chrome faceplate for the yellow one (which acts as a smart key), the unit can be converted into a slope-compensating range finder that also provides Leupold’s signature True Golf Range™ and Club Selector™ features.

Unfortunately for Leupold (and golfers, in our opinion), their design gamble didn’t pay off. The USGA ruled the GX-4 illegal for tournament play, regardless of whether it’s used in standard, line-of-sight mode or slope-compensating mode.

Leupold GX-4: In-Depth

Form Factor

Since this is a light weight range finder you need to know that it will be much easier to work with. You don’t need two hands to use the GX-4 and you can easily carry it in a pocket or on the side of your bag. It is not like some of the larger range finders that take up an entire pocket in your golf bag.

Range

The Leupold GX-4 features a target range up to 800 yards and it can catch a reflective prism up to this yardage as well. It will allow you to shoot the distance to any pin within 450 yards, which is plenty for any hole on any golf course. You can easily grab the pin with the GX-4 due to the pinseeking mode, and you will have accurate distances within 1 yard plus or minus.

It is not necessary to have a range finder that can grab distances over 300 yards. There are very few shots on the golf course you are even going to hit that far. You need to have a range finder that can acquire an accurate yardage from 300 yards and in, which the Leupold GX-4 can easily do for you.

Magnification

The magnification of the Leupold GX-4 is not as high as some of the competitors, but 6x is plenty for nearly every shot you are going to have on the golf course. Most of the range finders with the ability to magnify higher only go up to 7x anyway, and 6x is pretty close to the competition.

Plus using a range finder with a higher magnification requires a more steady hand and this is just not something that everybody has. If you know keeping your range finder perfectly steady is going to be difficult, then you should not be concerned with having a range finder over 6x for the magnification.

The Leupold GX-4 allows for both PinHunter and Prism Lock modes for distances.

PinHunter Mode

The PinHunter mode will allow you to fire a laser beam directly at the pin through the crosshairs. This will allow you to grab an accurate distance as the laser bounces off the pin and returns the yardage for you. When using this mode you will be able to avoid many of the things in the background when trying to get an accurate yardage to the pin.

Prism Lock Mode

If you are playing on a course with prism targets on the pins you can use the Prism Lock mode to grab these reflective prisms much easier. You can simply hold down the top button and scan the area where the pin is. Once the range finder locks in on the prism it will return an accurate yardage for you and you will be notified with a beep. The display will even freeze at this point so you know you have the perfect yardage.

The Leupold GX-4 Comes With:

  • Standard Chrome faceplate and Smart Key faceplate
  • Battery for up to 10,000 actuations
  • 1-year warranty

Leupold GX-4: Review & Our Opinions

Leupold GX-4 Review ImageLeupold has produced many products that are perfect for the golf course. They are known for creating very durable and rugged range finders, and the Leupold GX-4 is no exception. The aluminum housing is built to last, and the body is very visually appealing.

The best part is Leupold did not go with cheap optics and instead they stuck to the same high standard as the rugged structure. They chose precision glass, cutting-edge coating, and provided a low glare, scratch resistant set of optics for accurate ranging.

Acquiring distances can be done very fast and just by scanning a range you can find many distances from one target to another. The red OLED display makes it very easy to read against even a darker background.

You may have to go to an actual battery store to find the proper battery for the Leupold GX-4, but you will only have to replace it once every few months and that is assuming you play golf on a very regular basis. If you only play on the weekends you may only need one battery per year since these batteries last much longer.

Leupold GX-4: The Negatives

The functionality and the accuracy of the Leupold GX-4 are nearly perfect for a range finder. This is also one of the easiest range finders to use.

One thing that may be considered a negative is the size. Some golfers may prefer a larger range finder with a bit more magnification, but if you are looking for a smaller range finder, then the GX-4 is an excellent.

Also, we find it a bit disappointing the Leupold units only have a 1-year warranty. Given their quality and reputation, we think a 2-year warranty, as offered by Bushnell, would be more appropriate.

Leupold GX-4: What Owners Are Saying

The buyers of the GX-4 have left many very positive reviews. This is not much of a surprise considering it is the top of the line from Leupold.

“The Leupold GX-4 is in a higher class of functionality.”

“It is very strong while being compact.”

“Considering all the GX-4 functions, quality, and design, you actually get much more VALUE for your money than other range finders.”

“Flagsticks with prisms are a piece of cake”

“GX-4 – It lives up to expectations.”

Leupold GX-2 vs Leupold GX-4 Review & Comparison for 2019

Recently we wrote a comparison between the Leupold GX-1 and Leupold GX-3 to help shoppers choose between the two for the golf fanatics on their lists. Here we present the same comparison between the Leupold GX-2 and Leupold GX-4, which are nearly the same range finders as the GX-1 and GX-3, except that they are not tournament-legal. The GX-2 and GX-4 both provide slope-adjusted distance readings, and both have Leupold’s True Golf RangeTM (TGR) and Club SelectorTM features, which go beyond slope compensation.

Leupold GX-2

As with the GX-1/GX-3 comparison, we’re not going to recommend one range finder over the other. Both the Leupold GX-2 and GX-4 are worthy devices, and the differences between them are pretty much the same as the differences between the GX-1 and GX-3. Either would be a fine addition to any golfer’s arsenal. The choice between these two will come down to personal taste, and cost, as the GX-4 is more expensive than the GX-2.

Leupold GX-2 vs Leupold GX-4: Similarities

Size

The Leupold GX-2 and GX-4 both sport a small form factor, and are operated with one hand. The differences in dimensions are just fractions of an inch, so there’s no reason for choosing one over the other solely based on size.

Range

The difference in maximum range between the GX-2 and GX-4 is negligible. The GX-2 has a maximum range of 750 yards, while the Leupold GX-4 comes in at 800. Unless you’re the Incredible Hulk and can actually drive a golf ball that far, the difference isn’t going to matter at all.

Features

Both the Leupold GX-4 and GX-2 provide slope-adjusted distances. They also both have Leupold’s Club SelectorTM feature, which recommends the club to use for your next shot based on slope and other factors from TGRTM. (Read more about these features in our Leupold GX-2 review.)

Both range finders have 6x magnification, Fog Mode and Prism Lock, and they’re both weatherproof (but not waterproof) and take a CR-2 lithium battery.

Leupold GX-2 vs Leupold GX-4: Differences

Leupold GX-4

The Leupold GX-4′s SmartKey

The GX-4 can be transformed from a slope-compensating range finder to one that returns line-of-sight distances only. This is accomplished by switching the yellow “smart key” faceplate with the chrome one. The idea was that the GX-4 could be used in tournaments with the slope, TGRTM and Club SelectorTM features turned off.

Unfortunately, the USGA declared the Leupold GX-4 illegal for tournament play regardless of which faceplate is used.

Construction

The Leupold GX-4 is internally constructed with solid aluminum, making it more rugged and weigh about an ounce more than the Leupold GX-2, which has a frame made entirely of plastic.

Display

Like the GX-1, the Leupold GX-2 displays distances and other information with a black LCD display. While this is fine when the background against which you’re aiming is light-colored, it can present a bit of a problem when your background is dark-colored trees. The black readout tends to blend into the background, making your distances hard to see.

With the GX-4, Leupold has upgraded the display by using red OLED technology instead of the black LCD. Everything on the display stands out and is easy to read, regardless of how dark the background is behind your target.

The Leupold GX-2 provides 7 different cross-hairs you can choose from to show in the display. Only 3 different aiming reticles are offered on the GX-4. This isn’t a big deal, but just another difference to mention.

Appearance

We like the stylish looks of the Leupold GX-4 over the GX-2, but of course that’s just a matter of opinion. And looks aren’t going to affect anyone’s game, one way or the other.

Price

As one might expect, the GX-4, being a newer model that is an upgrade over the GX-2, is the more expensive range finder. Typically, the price difference runs around $100. With that additional cost, you’re paying for a more readable display and a more rugged device, due to the aluminum frame.

Leupold GX-2 vs Leupold GX-4: Which Should You Buy?

Leupold GX-2: Why You Should Choose

With the $100 or so price difference, the GX-2 won’t put as big a dent in your wallet as the GX-4. Despite the occasional readability issue with LCD display, it’s still an excellent range finder and will give you distances just as quickly and accurately as the GX-4.

Leupold GX-4: Why You Should Choose

You won’t have any trouble reading the GX-4′s display, so if readability is a concern, you may want to go with the GX-4.

You can also expect the GX-4 to be a hardier device than the GX-2, due to its aluminum frame. Range finders aren’t cheap, so for those prone to dropping or breaking things, it might be worthwhile to pay the extra cost upfront to avoid having to buy a replacement down the road.

With the USGA ruling that the GX-4 is not legal for tournament use (period), the ability to switch the device back and forth between a “standard” range finder that only gives straight-line yardages and a slope-compensating device is just a novelty. Too bad.

Leupold GX-2 vs Leupold GX4: Review & Final Thoughts

As you can see, the Leupold GX-2 and GX-4 are very nearly the same range finder. The construction and display are basically the only notable differences, and either will do a fine job of giving you accurate distances quickly and easily.

TaylorMade Lady Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue Hybrid Review

As a golf industry leader, TaylorMade first made a name for itself with its award-winning drivers. The company continues to offer new and improved clubs to golfers of all levels with its irons, hybrids, putters, and full lines. One of TaylorMade’s most acclaimed lines is its Burner SuperFast line; Burner SuperFast clubs are designed to be lighter and more aerodynamic for a faster swing and longer distances.

TaylorMade Lady Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue Hybrid

One of the popular clubs in the Burner SuperFast line is the TaylorMade Lady Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue Hybrid. Like other Burner SuperFast clubs, this hybrid uses the lightest shaft material and grips. Part of the second generation of Burner SuperFast line, the Lady Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue Hybrid features advanced technology for a greater sense of control, consistency, and accuracy.

Rescue hybrids are relatively new in golf. Designed to replace long irons, rescue hybrids are used by golfers who need to achieve long drives or avoid hazards without overshooting the green. With the ability to replace 1-irons through 5-irons, rescue hybrids are a versatile option when consistency and distance are needed.

TaylorMade Lady Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue Hybrid Review

The TaylorMade Lady Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue Hybrid fills just such a place in the cart bags of lady golfers of any skill level. This hybrid has a shaft made of graphite, which is typically the preferred material for women golfers for its light weight and superior vibration control.

The hybrid’s longer shaft and lighter overall weight enable golfers to swing the club faster and with more power, resulting in longer and faster drives. With a lower center of gravity, the hybrid promotes a distance enhancing swing. The club has a unique look: a black center with white edging, which is designed to reduce glare and allow a more accurate line-up with the ball.

Women should find the TaylorMade Lady Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue Hybrid a welcome addition to their club set, especially for golfers who are not able to achieve the distance or consistency with their long irons. The hybrid looks sharp, but its looks are also functional on the course. While the longer shaft may take a bit of getting used to, golfers will find that they can achieve greater power and speed with practice.

Callaway X Fairway 08 Fairway Wood Review for 2019

Leave it to a golf industry leader like Callaway golf to get input from PGA and LPGA tour players to design a surprisingly easy-to-use fairway wood that gets players out of tough spots on the course. The Callaway X Fairway 08 Fairway Wood does just that; designed as an improvement to Callaway’s already popular X series of fairway woods, the 08 model features new technology and hybrid elements.

Callaway X Fairway 08 Fairway Wood

The X series of woods includes these core technologies: Variable Face Thickness and S2H2 technology. Together, these features maximize the weighting of the clubhead and the face thickness for increase power and distance. Also, Callaway has taken a lesson from its X series hybrids and included the Modified X-Sole in the woods. The resulting club offers forgiveness, stability, accuracy, and distance.

Fairway woods are designed to help golfers achieve distance and get out of tough spots on the course. The Callaway X Fairway 08 Fairway Wood accomplishes just that with Callaway exclusive technology and hybrid-inspired design.

Callaway’s X series incorporates both Callaway’s Variable Face Thickness, or VFT, technology and S2H2 design. With a thick center and thin edge, the X Fairway Wood’s clubhead has been designed with VFT technology; the thicker center allows more power to get behind the ball. The S2H2 design moves a significant portion of weight from the hosel into the perimeter of the clubhead for greater stability and more efficient use of weight.

The new X series fairway club has a slightly larger head and a Modified X-Sole design previously features in the X hybrids. With a Modified X-Sole design, the wood is able to cut through the toughest parts of the course with ease. In addition, the leading edge of the club has been lowered, so shots fly higher.

The Callaway X Fairway 08 Fairway Wood comes with an option of a 15-, 18-, or 21-degree loft; each club includes Callaway’s two-year warranty.

Callaway X Fairway 08 Fairway Wood Review

Reviews have experienced “high and straight” shots with the Callaway X Fairway 08 Fairway Wood. The graphite shaft is a particularly nice feature of this new addition, and the overall look and feel of the club is very good. The club’s size, face, and weighting made it easy to line up shots and achieve a square hit. Both high- and low-handicappers will be thankful for the opportunity to get out of the rough with this wood from Callaway.

Leupold GX-3 Review & Buyers Guide for 2019

The Leupold GX-3 is the latest in Leupold’s line of tournament-legal laser range finders. Introduced in 2010, it sports a more durable frame than its sister device, the Leupold GX-1.

It’s also flashier eye candy, and is sure to draw some “ooh’s” and “aah’s” from your buddies when you first unveil it on the course.

The GX-3 can provide distances up to 800 yards and can cut right through fog and rain to provide accurate measurements. This range finder has become a favorite for many golfers and it is highly recommended for anybody in the market for a new range finder.

Leupold GX-3 Overview

Leupold GX-3

The Leupold GX-3 is considered to be more rugged than its predecessor the Leupold GX-1. It has a solid aluminum frame and for many golfers is more attractive looking as well. It also differs from the Leupold GX-1 by giving you a red OLED readout instead of the black LCD. This helps the golfer to see the distance better against dark backgrounds.

Just like the GX-1 the Leupold GX-3 is legal for tournament play and they both cut through the fog to return accurate yardages.

Leupold GX-3 Specifications

  • Weight: 7.8 ounces
  • Dimensions: 3.7 x 2.9 x 1.3 inches
  • Range: Up to 800 yards
  • Display: OLED
  • Magnification: 6x
  • Battery type: CR-2 Lithium Battery
  • Weatherproof

Leupold GX-3 In-Depth

Form Factor

Since the Leupold GX-3 is lightweight and is not as big as some of the other range finders on the market you can actually carry it in your pocket or easily on the outside of your bag. It is also much easier to use in your hands than trying to use a larger range finder that is very bulky.

Range

The Leupold GX-3 can shoot targets up to 800 yards away, which is much longer than any golfer would ever need considering even the long drive competitors can’t hit the ball over 500 yards. It will display the distance in vivid red OLED that is easy to read against any background.

Even though you may not ever need the Leupold GX-3 to shoot a distance of 800 yards for you, the good news is that it can acquire the distance from 300 yards and in very accurately without picking up objects that are not your target. The Leupold GX-3 fires a laser beam right at the target and returns the distance to the target accurately with Prism technology.

Magnification

Even though the 6x magnification is not the highest you can find in a range finder it is plenty to give you accurate numbers for the distances of a golf course. The magnification is allows the golfer to lock into the flagstick from longer distances without nearly as much trouble as some of the other models that are on the market.

The Red OLED Display

What makes the Leupold GX-3 so different from the GX-1 and the other range finders that are on the market is the red OLED display. This is a big deal because many range finders only display the distance in black and this can be very hard to read against a dark target like a tree or on a day that the sun is not exactly shining bright.

This will take the guess work out of the distance you are shooting and it will allow you to get an accurate distance that you can read much easier. The display of the Leupold GX-3 is one of the favorite features of users and it is considered be far superior to the typical LCD displays that are almost always in black.

The Scan Mode

With this Leupold range finder you also get a scan mode that will give you multiple distance readings all at once. This means that when you are trying to find the right distance you can easily see all the distances from your target back to where your golf ball lies much easier and much faster.

The Leupold GX-3 Comes With:

  • Carrying Case with Strap
  • Instruction Manual
  • CR-2 Lithium Battery
  • 1 year Warranty

Leupold GX-3: Our Opinion

The Leupold GX-3 is one of the best range finders on the market and the lightweight makes it easier to carry on the golf course. You already have clubs, golf balls, and many other things to weigh your bag down and you don’t need to add more weight with a bulky range finder. The GX-3 is the perfect size for handheld use and it is easier to keep steady when shooting longer distances as well.

It can shoot right through fog and bad weather, which means you don’t have to guess when the weather is not all that good. The scan mode is a very popular feature and can help you see all the yardages you need. You also get a display that you just cannot find with many other range finders. The red display will make it much easier to know that you have an accurate distance to the target you are aiming for.

Even though it does not take a very common battery like other range finders the batter will last longer since it is Lithium. Plus the CR-2 Lithium battery is used in many other electronic devices and it can easily be found at any department store. You will get more hours out of this battery than the standard 9-volt that most range finders take.

The Leupold GX-3 is a very smooth functioning range finder and it finds the target very accurately and fast.

It is much more rugged than the GX-1 due to the aluminum body and it is also weatherproof so that you can use it whenever you are playing golf.

Leupold GX-3 Review: Negatives

We are hard-pressed to find anything to complain about with this device. Except, as we’ve mentioned in previous Leupold reviews, we wish Leupold would match Bushnell’s two-year warranty.

What Leupold GX-3 Owners Are Saying

There is not much to complain about with the Leupold GX-3 range finder and the reviews from actual owners have been overwhelmingly positive.

“There are not many products I buy where I am impressed with the quality and build, but this is certainly one of them.”

“For me it is the best quality of all the competitors.”

“Quick and precise.”

“I test it on a foggy and rainy day and it worked like in a sunny day.”

“Great product. Small, light, and accurate.”

Pinemeadow Fantom Putter Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

You’ll be sure to stand out from the crowd when you use this striking white putter from Pinemeadow to sink those tough shots. The Pinemeadow Fantom Putter uniquely makes use of color contrast to keep a player’s focus solely on getting the best alignment.

Oregon-based Pinemeadow Golf has nearly 30 years of providing a full range of custom clubs to golfers around the world. Pinemeadow’s goal is to make golf affordable for everyone by offering clubs with a range of specifications and the latest technology.

Pinemeadow Fantom Putter

One of the company’s statement clubs, the Pinemeadow Fantom Putter is designed specifically to give golfers the best alignment tools. Its most noticeable feature, its pearl-like white finish, provides the most contrast against the green. That contrast makes it easy to keep your focus on the black alignment aiding lines on the putter, ensuring you’ll be lined up correctly upon address.

The Pinemeadow Fantom Putter is tour-weighted at 380g, which is about 40g more than standard putters. That extra weight takes less strength to swing, which is why it’s often preferred by lady golfers and tour pros who need to keep up their endurance.

Pinemeadow’s Fantom Putter shares many features with TaylorMade’s Rossa Monza Ghost Putter, which also have the white finish and black alignment lines. The Rossa Ghost Putter has received notice from Golf Digest and many other top names in golf, and it is highly rated for its bevy of features and the novelty of its white finish. Women who are not looking to make the $160 commitment for the TaylorMade club will find that Pinemeadow’s Fantom performs similarly.

A comfort grip makes the Fantom easier and more comfortable to play with. Plus, the putter comes with a headcover that is vital to keeping the putter’s white finish free of nicks and scrapes.

Pinemeadow Fantom Putter Review

Golfers have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the novel white contrast finish of the Fantom. Reviewers found the putter to be “extremely accurate” and “easy to line up.” The Fantom is easily compared to the big names in golf, such as TaylorMade and Odyssey, although Pinemeadow clubs have a significantly lower price. It comes with a surprisingly high quality white grip, although the white color does attract dirt.

Lady golfers will likely want to take note of the putter’s heavier weight, soft face, and unique design. These features may take some getting used to, but the end result for many players was a better game. For women who struggle with their shots on the green, the Fantom may just be the change needed to improve your game.

Cleveland Lady Niblick Bloom Wedge Review & Buyers’ Guide

California-based Cleveland Golf was founded in 1979 to design replicas of classic 1940s and 1950s golf clubs. Today, the company focuses on producing golf clubs and accessories with classic styling. The company has endorsements with dozens of tour players worldwide.

Cleveland Golf’s Niblick line has been praised for its versatility; the clubs function like a hybrid and are able to hit four types of shots: chips, pitches, recovery, and approaches.

Cleveland Lady Niblick Bloom Wedge

The Cleveland Lady Niblick Bloom Wedge offers this key feature in a wedge designed specifically for lady golfers. The Zip Groove Technology, a Cleveland exclusive, engineers the clubhead with milled grooves for optimized spin and better contact with the ball.

Cleveland Golf is known for its classic designs with modern technology. Over the last 30 years, the company has developed exclusive technology designed to help players improve their scores. The Cleveland Lady Niblick Bloom Wedge

The wedge’s two key features are its Zip Groove Technology and GelBack Technology, both Cleveland exclusives. Cleveland Golf has designed their clubs with Zip Groove Technology, which creates deeply milled grooves with specialized coating for protection.

These grooves channel debris away from the ball for better contact with the ball, controlled spin, and optimized distance control. GelBack Technology involves a lightweight and elastic-like material placed directly behind the club’s hitting area that creates an ideal level of feedback.

Cleveland Lady Niblick Bloom Wedge Review

Testers have described the Cleveland Lady Niblick Bloom Wedge as “visually striking” with its shiny, smooth silver finish and rounded lines. With its high moment of inertia, reviews experienced greater forgiveness and longer distances with this wedge. Even mishits still achieved a great distance and straight lines, while dead center hits had a lot of power.

Overall, the Bloom Wedge should serve as a performance-enhancing piece for women to have in their bag, especially for improving players looking for increased confidence on the course.

Intech Lancer Junior Golf Club Set Review & Buyers’ Guide

Today’s post is about the best golf club sets for kids. My brother’s son was very interested in golf and always would ask me if he could hit some balls with my clubs. I let him use some of my old junkers but they were obviously too big for him. So for his birthday this year I got him Intech’s Junior golf club set. This kid has been a golfing fiend ever since. I am amazed at how fast his swing is improving…kind of makes me jealous because he figured out some subtleties that took me years to figure out.

If you want to buy this junior clubs set, you can get it pretty cheap here.

Intech Lancer Junior Golf Club Specifics

Intech Lancer Junior Golf Club Set

  • It’s a cheap (inexpensive) golf club set for kids – great entry point to the game.
  • Comes with a back weighted putter which is good for children to learn to put on.
  • Set comes with a bag stand.
  • 10 piece golf set – a total of 5 golf clubs I believe.
  • Can be purchased in left or right handed.

One tip before you hand this set of to your kid

Teach him/her to swing before you hand these off. Kids tend to like to swing things like golf clubs very wildly so it’s important that they know that these clubs can hurt/damage things. My brother told me the first day his son had these clubs he managed to break one lamp and one drinking glass.

Intech Lancer Junior Golf Club Set Review

All in all, the Intech Lancer Junior set is great for kids aged 3-12. This golf club set can also be purchased in different sizes to fit different sized/aged children. I also recommend that you spend no more than $90-$100 on your child’s junior golf set as they outgrow these things very fast. You can only expect them to be able to use them for a year or two max before they completely outgrow it.

Cleveland HiBORE Bloom Hybrid Review & Buyers’ Guide 2019

Originally started in 1979 to design replicas of classic golf clubs from the 1940s and 1950s, California-based Cleveland Golf makes a wide variety of golf clubs today. Now, the company focuses on producing classically styled golf clubs with modern technology.

Cleveland Golf has entered the hybrid market since hybrid clubs have been increasingly popular with both professional and amateur golfers. The Cleveland HiBORE Bloom Hybrid is primarily designed to create optimal launch conditions.

Cleveland HiBORE Bloom Hybrid

Its distance driven geometry ensures a lower center of gravity, while the energy transfer core more efficiently transfer energy to the ball for faster ball speeds. The hybrid features a large head size with a huge sweetspot for maximized ball speed, even on mishits.

It is no wonder that Cleveland golf, known for its classic designs that use modern technology, would enter the hybrid market. The popularity of hybrids today stems from their greater versatility throughout the course and their overall ability to achiever longer distances. The Cleveland HiBORE Bloom Hybrid brings some of Cleveland Golf’s exclusive technology and features to a hybrid that many levels of women golfers can enjoy.

Cleveland HiBORE Bloom Hybrid Review

The central theme of the Cleveland HiBORE Bloom Hybrid is optimal launch conditions. With distance driven geometry, the hybrid places much of the clubhead’s weight into the deep center of the head, which creates a low and deep center of gravity.

A C.O.R Hot Spot is carefully placed behind the center of the large face to easily transfer more energy to the ball upon contact. Inside the clubhead is a set of thin titanium spines that allow for a more efficient transfer of energy to the ball.

The Cleveland HiBORE Bloom Hybrid is an update of the previous HiBORE Hybrid; the Bloom edition includes more offset for a squarer face upon impact for greater control and trajectory. The club’s graphite shaft is lightweight and stable. One unique feature is the toe graphics, which change colors when exposed to sunlight or UV rays.

With nearly perfect reviews, the Cleveland HiBORE Bloom Hybrid is sure to please any lady golfer, whether she is a high- or low-handicapper. Women found it easy to use and a welcome replacement to fairway woods or traditional irons. Overall, the club was praised for its ability to achieve hits that are “wonderfully long and straight.” Most players used this club for longer fairway shots and shots out of the rough.

Garmin G5 Approach Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

For a start the Garmin G5 Approach will wipe the smug smiles from your boss and friend’s faces when they see you hit the ball closer to the target then they can, this will certainly put a smile on your face.

Garmin G5 Approach Specs

Garmin G5 Approach

The Garmin G5 Approach Waterproof Touch screen Golf GPS is Garmin’s first touch screen handheld GPS device specially designed for golf.

If you’re ready to reduce your strokes and are up for the next challenge, then the Garmin G5 can help you get there.

It shows a detailed view of the entire courses in color and uses touch screen technology to give information on distances to fairways, hazards and greens and measure individual shot distances.

It also helps analyze your game by letting you view scores of up to 4 players and keep track of the primary user’s game statistics. The Garmin G5 Approach is easy to use, it doesn’t even have a set-up procedure. Just put the batteries in turn on the unit, and you’re ready to play.

At present, the Garmin G5 has 16,500 American and Canadian course maps that are already preloaded. Unlike some competitors, there are no subscription fees required to access the database of golf courses.

You can preview any course in the database using the Preview Mode. The Green View provides a detailed view of the green and lets you touch-and-drag the pin location for more precise readings. The Garmin G5 Approach delivers accurate information in its map illustrations and distance readings.

Once you get used to it, its simple touch screen interface lets you easily access the system features. The touch targeting feature lets you measure the target distance by touching anywhere on the screen.

Garmin G5 Approach Review

With the Garmin G5 you’ll be able to target anywhere on the fairway and see any obstacles in your path.

Touch any point on the screen and the Garmin G5 Approach gives the exact distance to that point. It shows exact distances to targets and hazards from where you’re currently standing. It also automatically updates your position as you move.

Using this touch screen and touch targeting technology takes some time to get used to. Sometimes the device doesn’t recognize the exact position you’re aiming for which you’re trying to point through your finger. A good remedy for this would be to use a pen or pencil for more accurate positioning.

This Garmin G5 GPS unit weighs in at a low 6.8 ounces and is slim enough to fit in your pocket.

Weighing 6.8 ounces with batteries, the Garmin G5 Approach comes with a sturdy and waterproof shell. This rugged design will enable it to withstand tough conditions and rough handling in the course.

It has a color screen display that is sharp and clear, with a size of 1.53” x 2.55” (3′ diagonal) and resolution of 240 x 400 pixels that can be seen in bright outdoor conditions. Distance numerals shown on screen are large and can be read easily.

The only problem with the G5 golf GPS is its short battery life. It requires two AA batteries that won’t last to the end of two rounds. So if you’re the type who plays a lot, remember to bring rechargeable batteries. But it’s really bothersome to be changing batteries in the middle of play.

Armed with the information that the Garmin G5 gives while playing, this golf GPS device will definitely help you speed up and improve your game.

Mizuno JPX 800 Driver Review & Buyers Guide for 2019

The Mizuno name may not be the most recognizable in golf, but the worldwide company, with a USA division based out of Georgia, has been a leader in the sporting goods market. Making golf, baseball, volleyball, softball, running and track and field products, the company counts among its users such top names as former baseball star Chipper Jones, Victor Martinez, the US Women’s National Volleyball team and golfers Charles Howell III and Jonathan Byrd.

Mizuno JPX 800 Driver

One of the company’s noted products, the Mizuno JPX 800 Driver, has an oversized 460cc clubhead. The head has a strategic internal weighting system for a greater vertical and horizontal moment of inertia. The head itself is made with a six-piece plasma welded design for added strength and stability upon address. The club is carefully weighted with a 10g back weight and 5g heel weight to further contributed to the moment of inertia and low center of gravity.

Mizuno’s Ultimate Dynamic Stability technology carefully constructs the club’s face for explosive distance. The face is made of a titanium “Hot Metal” face, and its crown is ultra-thin. Even shots that hit outside of the sweet spot have more distance and power than afforded by other drivers. The driver has a Mizuno DS5 shaft and a Golf Price M-21 60 Round grip.

Mizuno JPX 800 Driver Review

Revealed in the March 2011 issue of Golf Magazine, the magazine’s testers found the Mizuno JPX 800 Driver to be a “traditional looking club with a pleasing, quality feel.” Reviews found that the driver had plenty of forgiveness and helped control both the spin and the trajectory of the ball upon mis-hits. The driver was rated average to above-average in terms of distance gained.

TaylorMade Men’s Burner 460Ti Review & Buyers’ Guide 2019

With its 460cc-sized club head and deep center of gravity, the TaylorMade Men’s Burner 460Ti has to be considered one of the best drivers on the market today. The super light shaft produces a much faster swing speed for the golfer, which allows for greater distance off the tee as well as straighter shots down the middle of the fairway.

TaylorMade Men’s Burner 460Ti Features

TaylorMade Men’s Burner 460Ti

  •     Men’s driver designed to promote faster swing speed and more drive-crushing distance
  •     SuperFast technology reduces the total club weight to 299 grams for added speed
  •     Advanced bullet-shaped clubhead with far-back CG location launches ball high and deep
  •     Inverted Cone Technology produces highly effective MOI; massive 460cc clubhead
  •     Titanium body and face construction; 46-inch club length; 2-year warranty

The stock Burner comes with lofts of either 9.5, 10.5, or 13 degrees. The 13-degree Burner would be for a senior who is having trouble getting the ball in the air. However, that should not be a problem with this particular club, as the standard shaft is the 50-gram TM RE*AX shaft which gives golfers a higher ball trajectory off the tee. This results in longer, straighter shots for golfers of all ability levels.

The face, body, and crown of the Burner’s club head is all made of titanium, and the face comes 1-degree closed. By shipping the driver with a closed face, this alleviates the problem that many amateurs have related to hitting a natural fade.

Fades will ultimately cut down on the distance the golfer is able to reach off the tee box. The TaylorMade Burner 460 is able to harness that fade and return a high, long ball flight that is sure to give you 20-30 extra yards.

It is the club’s customization features, however, that truly set it apart from any other club in its class. From different lie angles to various loft and shaft combinations, the TaylorMade Burner 460 really does cater to the golfer’s distinct style of swinging the golf club.

TaylorMade Men’s Burner 460Ti Review

The slow swing speed players will notice that the light regular-flex shaft and high-degree club head produce a higher ball flight to get maximum distance out of the shot.

Faster swing speeds are likely to find a stiff-flex shaft and lower-degree club head will allow them to keep the ball from going too high while still maximizing the amount of carry and roll the ball will ultimately recognize.

If you want to buy this golf club, you can get it cheapest through this link here on Amazon.

A great driver at an equally great price, the TaylorMade Burner 460 Ti is sure to be the right club for just about anybody that gives it a try.

Callaway FT-iZ Tour Driver Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

The Callaway FT-iZ Tour Driver is a latest offering by one of the top names in golf. Callaway Golf, an American company with a long list of PGA and LPGA endorsers, focuses on integrating the latest technology into clubs that fit a wide range of golfers, from high handicappers to the pros.

Callaway FT-iZ Tour Driver

A new driver to the golf scene, the Callaway FT-iZ Tour Driver with features inspired by tour pros. Its large 440cc head has a smaller footprint than many models and a deeper set face. An open face angle, reduced face progression and a full-length hosel mirrors the type of clubs preferred by pros. Its External Web Weighting positions the clubhead’s center of gravity at the perfect spot for greater power behind the shot.

Finally, the head is made of a carbon composite material with a titanium face cup for an even lower center of gravity and higher moment of inertia. The clubhead’s unique shape and styling looks great on the course, but its design is truly about getting the most aerodynamic shape possible for reduced drag and a smoother swing.

This Tour Driver is available in both right-handed and left-handed versions, and each club has an Aldila Voodoo shaft, available in stiff or regular. Calloway’s main claim about the FT-iZ is that it is the longest and straightest driver made yet.

Callaway FT-iZ Tour Driver Review

The driver’s polar weighting makes it stand out among the crowd. Callaway’s engineers have created the driver to have nearly three-quarters of its weight at the face and the back port. The result is a club that is more stable, particularly in the face of mishits.

Released to great acclaim, the Callaway FT-iZ Tour Driver has been tried widely by tour pros, Callaway fans and players with other preferred brands. Callaway’s new features have resulted in a better game and further shots for many players, especially those who are mid- to high-handicappers. The club’s progressive style head may be a bit of an adjustment for players used to a more traditional style, but the driver holds its own among the competition.

Bushnell Pro 1600 Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

Just when golfers are starting to think that GPS has completely taken over the market, the distance-measuring devices got more interesting with the release of Bushnell’s strongest addition to their family of rangefinders – the Pro 1600. The number in its name indicates the distance that it can cover (in yards), which makes the Bushnell Pro 1600 the company’s most sensitive and most accurate rangefinder to hit the market.

As Bushnell’s flagship model, it is also equipped with other powerful specs and features like the 7x magnification, PinSeeker technology, 100% waterproofing, fully multi-coated optics, built-in slope compensator, and more.

Bushnell Pro 1600 Specs

Bushnell Pro 1600

1600 Yards Range Capacity

The Bushnell Pro 1600 makes it easy to measure distances between you and 1600 yards away. This means that the laser rangefinder has no problem whatsoever with measuring pins from 250 yards away. Now you can rest assured that you won’t go wrong picking up flags from any reasonable distance.

+/- 1 Yard Accuracy

Made for the serious golfer, the Bushnell Pro 1600 has a plus / minus 1 yard accuracy. This makes it the perfect rangefinder for those who have tighter accuracy tolerances to improve their golfing game.

Up to 7x Magnification

The eyepiece of the Pro 1600 can magnify objects up to 7 times, making it perfect for scanning long distances. This is especially helpful on those second par-5 shots for instance, when you are trying to find a nice lay-up yardage based on the total distance away from the flag. Feel free to watch birds fly around the course to see how crystal clear the images remain even at that magnification level.

Size Matters

When it comes to size, the Bushnell Pro 1600 proves that size does matter. Measuring a solid 7 x 26 x 6.5 inches, the horizontally-oriented unit makes it ideal for two-handed rangefinder use in order to eliminate the unstable, shaky operations with one hand. It is also substantially heavier than the vertical Tour V2, but with one touch, its sheer weight and feel makes it evident that the Pro 1600 is sturdy and made to last years of use.

Additional Features

Multi-Coated HD Lenses with Rainguard Coating – this brings exceptional brightness and clarity to every scanned image – even when using the device while it’s raining on the course.

Pinseeker Mode – the Pinseeker technology allows better accuracy when scanning. This results for easier flag acquisition without capturing background distances unintentionally.

Scan mode – the standard scan mode makes it possible to look around the course while keeping track of the scanned distances between you and the flags that are continuously displayed on the LCD.

Slope Compensator

The built-in slope compensator allows for the elevation changes in the landscape. The digital inclinometer of the Pro 1600 will let you find out distances depending on the elevation change degree, resulting in safe and smart swings.

Waterproof

The Bushnell Pro 1600 passes the waterproofing standards of IPX7. Its 100% waterproofing makes it submersible in water and can even float despite its seemingly weighty appearance. Not that you should try floating it in any of the water hazards, but if it did happen to fall in, or get soaked by a heavy downpour then it will be completely protected.

9V Battery

With an extended 9 volt battery life, you don’t have to carry around a separate, fully-charged battery pack in your back when on prolonged games. The Bushnell Pro 1600 comes with a 2 year limited warranty.

Bushnell Pro 1600 Review: Overall Thoughts

Being able to compensate for any changes in elevation is that makes the Pro 1600 stand out from all of the other rangefinders. Even a slight elevation is going to cause a difference in the distance and ultimately the club that you hit. So if you play on a course that is not entirely flat, you really should consider the Bushnell Pro 1600.

Bushnell Tour Z6 Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

Bushnell is one of the leaders when it comes to making good quality laser golf range finders. The Bushnell Tour Z6 is one of their leading models and is widely used by golfers in the US and around the world. Its ease of use and fast and accurate measuring ability makes it a favorite with golfers of all levels, and with the features it offers it provides a really consistent measuring tool.

Bushnell Tour Z6

Being small and portable is important for any golf range finder. If it is too large it will just become a hindrance and probably not get used as much. But the Bushnell Tour Z6 is a really compact size and very light too, so it can even be carried around in the pockets of your pants if you wanted to. The speed in which it can return the accurate measurements for you make it a very efficient part of your golf equipment.

To ensure that the Bushnell Tour Z6 will always give you the accurate measurements it needs, it is housed in a waterproof case and the lens has a RainGuard HD lens coating so that no water can leak inside of the unit. This will give you a lot of use from this rangefinder and help it perform to its optimal levels so you can do the same on the golf course.

A Closer Look at the Bushnell Tour Z6

Range and accuracy

The maximum range of the Bushnell Tour Z6 is up to 1,300 yards and also has a 6x magnification lens zoom. It uses a pin finder too, and you get a 450 yard range capacity with this. Using this feature will allow you to home into the pin and get an exact measurement to the flag from up to 450 yards away.

The accuracy of the Z6 is also very impressive. You will be able to get the measurement to plus or minus 1 yard all the way up to the 1,300 yard maximum range. Accuracy is essential when using a tool like this, and the Bushnell Tour Z6 certainly delivers in this area too.

Bushnell Tour Z6 Review

Yardage Breakdown

As you get closer to the pin it is good to know exactly how far you are away. So from 125 yards and in, the Z6 will display your yardages in 1/10th of a yard increments. So if you have any of those tricky 60 to 80 yard shots you will know exactly how far the pin is so you can play the right shot each time.

Display Technology

The display technology used in the Bushnell Tour Z6 is excellent as it provides you with really clear readouts of your yardages. Even in brighter weather you will be able to see everything extremely clearly. This coupled with the speed it retrieves the measurements for you makes for a very fast usage of this each time you need to get a measurement. This will ensure your game pace is kept up to the required speeds and you do not hold anyone up because of this.

Bushnell Tour Z6: Final Thoughts

With Bushnell being such a consistent manufacturer of high quality golf laser rangefinders, you just know that each model they bring out will be of a very high standard. This certainly applies to the Z6. It is extremely easy to use and also provides you with incredibly fast and accurate measurements. The Bushnell Tour Z6 is great value for the price you can get it at, and will certainly give you a lot of really valuable help on the course.

Callaway Diablo Edge Golf Wedge Review & Buyers’ Guide 2019

Callaway’s Diablo Edge series of irons provides the longest stainless steel irons on the market, ensuring increased distance and better performance for amateurs. The Callaway Diablo Edge Golf Wedge helps lady golfers get close to the hole for a lower game score and more enjoyment.

Callaway Diablo Edge Golf Wedge

As the top name in golf, Callaway Golf has been the leader of golf equipment trends and technological improvements consistently. Each new Callaway line is the result of years of research into pro and amateur players’ games. The result is equipment that provides the highest in quality and performance.

Callaway Diablo Edge Golf Wedge has two key designs that make it so effective. First, the wedge has a lower and deeper center of gravity than previous clubs, which places the club’s sweet spot at the idea level for casual players. The sweet spot is larger and more accessible for longer drives. In addition, the wedge’s sole is specifically designed to improve shot impact and less the impact of heavy, thin shots.

Technological advancements don’t stop there, though. Like many of Callaway’s other newer clubs, the Callaway Diablo Edge Golf Wedge has both Velocity Slot Technology and S2H2. Velocity Slot Technology, called VST, creates three visible slots on the club’s crown and sole that catch the airflow for 35 percent less drag resistance.

Thirty-five percent less wind resistance means an average of six additional yards. S2H2, or Short, Straight, Hollow, Hosel, is a Callaway exclusive technology that shortens the length of the hosel, which allows more weight to be distributed to the perimeter of the club head. The result is a better feeling and better performing club.

Callaway Diablo Edge Golf Wedge Review

According to one page, ninety-nine percent of users would recommend the Callaway Diablo Edge Golf Wedge to other players, which is a testament to its quality and performance. With an impressive launch angle and ball flight, the wedge is a must-have for players who do not have an effective wedge in their golf bag.

One player sums it up by saying, “Great clubs. Perfect combination of forgiveness, while still being long. Visually appealing when you look down on the club. I highly recommend for all handicap golfers!”

In addition, the Adams Golf Speedline F11 Driver is made with the company’s patented Velocity Slot Technology, or VST. Visible to the naked eye, VST is integrated into the crown and sole. With VST, the clubhead keeps the airflow attached during the swing, which further reduces drag. VST has been shown to reduce drag by 35 percent. Together, aerodynamic design and VST create a large footprint driver that is quick, easy-to-hit and forgiving.

Standard features include a range of lofts and a large, 460cc head. The club excels at compensating for top and bottom mis-hits.

Adams Golf Speedline F11 Driver Review

The Adams Golf Speedline F11 Driver has been widely reviewed. Golf Magazine’s March 2011 review of the driver was very positive. On average, testers gained five to seven yards of distance, appreciated its accuracy and had a responsive, stable feel. The testers felt that the club was “dependable in all areas but doesn’t stand out in any one category.”

Player reviews have been more positive: Amazon’s rating is 5 stars, and Adams fans, while somewhat biased, have rated it 4.9 stars. This Adams Driver is an all-around driver that performs well in many areas and has been used by all levels of players.

Bushnell Tour V2 Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

The Bushnell Tour V2 with PinSeeker laser range finder is one of the most popular laser range finders on the market today, and those who are serious about golf are likely already familiar with the Bushnell name. Owners of the V2 swear by its accuracy, ease of use, and its compact size and light weight.

Bushnell Tour V2 with PinSeeker Laser Range Finder Overview

Bushnell Tour V2

The Bushnell Tour V2 is a vertically-oriented range finder, designed to be operated with one hand. The device has tactile surfaces on the top and bottom edges, providing a nice, secure grip. Some other range finders on the market, for instance the Bushnell Pro 1600, have a horizontal orientation and are intended to be operated with both hands, like a pair of binoculars.

The Bushnell Tour V2 with PinSeeker laser range finder comes in two editions, Standard (pictured on the right) and Slope. The Standard edition is legal for use in tournaments in most cases. The Slope edition, which is not tournament-legal, uses a built-in inclinometer to take into account differences in elevation between your current location on the course and your target.

Bushnell Tour V2 with PinSeeker Laser Range Finder Specifications

  • Weight: 6.6 ounces
  • Dimensions: 4.3 x 2.8 x 1.6 inches
  • Range: 5 to 1000 yards, with an accuracy of plus or minus 1 yard
  • Reflective targets: 1000 yards
  • Trees: 600 yards
  • Flag: 300 yards
  • Magnification: 5x
  • Battery type: 3 volt lithium
  • Objective lens diameter: 24 mm
  • Weatherproof (for those who don’t mind playing in the rain)

Bushnell Tour V2 In-Depth

Form Factor

Weighing in at just 6.6 ounces, the V2 is one of the lightest golf range finders available. Its light weight and compact dimensions (4.3 x 2.8 x 1.6 inches) make it a breeze to carry around with you on the course. It fits nicely in the pocket, so it doesn’t need to be kept in the cart or your golf bag between uses, which is a nice convenience.

Range

The Bushnell Tour V2 with PinSeeker laser range finder has a range of 5 to 1000 yards (with an accuracy of plus or minus 1 yard), depending on the size and reflectivity of the object targeted. The upper range limit is attainable with highly reflective targets. The unit accurately determines the yardage to trees up to about 600 yards.

The most important target, of course, is the flag, to which the V2 is advertised as accurate to about 300 yards. In PinSeeker mode, an accurate distance to the flag can be obtained regardless of whether the pin is fitted with a reflective prism.

Magnification

The Tour V2 has 5x magnification. This is the lowest magnification among the top laser range finders on the market today. Many have 6x or even 7x magnification, such as the Bushnell Pro 1600.

However, we found 5x is more than adequate when taking into account the maximum range to the pin of 300 yards. So, unless you really need to obtain yardages beyond that distance, you’ll likely not have any complaints about the device’s magnification.

On the flip side, the greater the magnification, the more crucial it becomes to hold a laser range finder steady in your hand to keep objects in your field of view from “jumping around,” making it more difficult to acquire your target.

Operational Modes

The V2 can be operated in two different modes – Automatic SCAN and PinSeeker.

Automatic SCAN Mode

This mode does what the name implies. As you scan targets down the fairway with the Bushnell Tour V2, the unit automatically locks on to objects and continuously updates the range display as different targets are acquired.

PinSeeker Mode

PinSeeker mode is what the Bushnell Tour V2 is known for. This advanced mode is designed to allow the device to measure the distance to the pin without inadvertently acquiring targets in the background, such as trees and buildings.

A flagstick icon appears in the lower left of the display when PinSeeker mode is active. As you move the laser over the flag, a circle will appear around the icon, informing you that the device has locked onto the pin, and that background objects are being ignored.

Slope Edition of the Bushnell Tour V2

The Slope edition of the Tour V2 has a third operating mode that that can give you a more accurate yardage uphill and downhill. It actually takes into account the elevation change between you and the pin to give you a better yardage to work with when the green is uphill or downhill from where you are playing your next shot.

An inclinometer built into the Tour V2 Slope edition displays the slope angle from -20 to +20 degrees, accurate to within 1 degree. Using this information, the Slope edition provides direction on how the shot should be played – short for downhill shots, and long for uphill shots.

If you are going to be playing in tournaments as an amateur or a professional, then you will not want to be carrying the V2 Slope edition unless you enjoy seeing a big “DQ” next to your name on the score sheet.

However, it can be used during practice rounds to help you take notes and map the course out ahead of time.

What’s Included

The Tour V2 comes with:

  • 3 volt lithium battery
  • Carrying case with strap
  • Manual written in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Portuguese.
  • A 2-year warranty

Bushnell Tour V2 Review: Our Opinion

The Bushnell Tour V2 is a solid device that’s gained quite a following in the world of golf. We like it’s light weight and compact form. Being able to carry it in our pockets is a very nice convenience.

We were also pleased with its accuracy and “point and shoot” ease of use. We did find that there can be a delay of several seconds in getting a distance reading for targets at the upper end of its range, especially at over 250 yards. But, it wasn’t long enough to create a great deal of frustration or slow the game appreciably.

One nice touch is that the yardage readout appears in the lower part of the display. When you’re sighting the flag or most any target, the grass of the fairway or green shows at the bottom. That light background makes the distance, displayed in black LCD numbers, easy to read.

You can’t really go wrong with the Bushnell Tour V2. Bushnell’s reputation is rock-solid, and the device’s size and accuracy make it a good choice if you’re in the market for a laser range finder. But there are competing devices, most notably the Leupold GX-1 and GX-2, that should be considered if you’re comparison shopping.

Negatives About The Bushnell Tour V2

One drawback we’ve heard from owners about the Tour V2 is short battery life. Some, however, have not had a problem with that at all. It’s probably a good idea to keep a spare battery in your golf bag, just in case. If your battery dies and you’re caught without a spare, you will be missing the V2 the rest of your round.

While the Bushnell Tour V2′s 5x magnification is lower than other top golf range finders available, it isn’t too big an issue unless you really need to capture the distance to targets further than 300 yards out. Some may even appreciate that the lower magnification reduces the need to hold the unit perfectly steady.

We’ve already mentioned that there can be a delay in obtaining yardage to more distant targets, but it isn’t a showstopper.

Bushnell Tour V2: What Other Golfers Are Saying

The vast majority of comments we’ve seen and heard about the Bushnell Tour V2 are very positive.

Here are some excerpts (paraphrased) from buyer reviews:

“I bought the V2 a few weeks ago and am very pleased with it”

“Very easy to use and works great!”

“I find the Tour V2′s 5x magnification easier to hold steady than my old rangefinder’s 6x.”

“This PinSeeker model is much better than my old one (without PinSeeker)”

“Works like a charm!”

“The V2 is compact, light weight and highly accurate”

“If you’re in the market for a rangefinder, look no further”

SkyCaddie SG3 Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

A lot of golf GPS units have been coming out in the past couple of years and one of them is the SkyCaddie SG3, a few years ago this kind of product didn’t even exist.

It’s confusing for the regular amateur golfer to have to choose from a lot of models now available in the market, and of course it will be even more confusing for golf beginners and casual game players.

The SkyCaddie SG3 is a good start point to your first GPS

SkyCaddie SG3

A good starting point when considering what to buy is looking at the company that’s behind the product. A product that is made by a company that has a solid reputation in producing quality equipment is a good bet to be a quality product.

SkyGolf, maker of SkyCaddie, is a company that’s known to produce quality products. That’s why the SkyCaddie is the Official Rangefinder of the PGA of America and other countries. One of the products in the SkyCaddie line is the SkyCaddie SG3.5V GPS unit, which is SkyCaddie’s lower-end golf GPS model, but has many of the outstanding features of the higher-end models of SkyCaddie like SGX and SG5.

SkyCaddie SG3 Specs

For its physical attributes, the SkyCaddie SG3 has unit dimensions of 2.2” x 5” x 0.8” (WxHxD) and weight of 3.8 ounces without batteries, making it the smallest among the three models. Its lightweight and compact size makes it a good fit inside your pocket.

It runs on 3 regular AAA batteries as against lithium-ion batteries for the SGX and SG5. It has a high-resolution 2.2” backlit color LCD screen that’s easily readable outdoors in bright sunlight. As with the other two, it has a tough, durable exterior that can withstand rugged treatment on the course. You can get this GPS unit on Amazon through this link

The SkyCaddie SG3 key feature include Intelligreen Pro

Key features of the SkyCaddie SG3 model include Intelligreen Pro, Quick Vue, Hole Vue, ball marking and distance measuring. Using a simple touch of a button, the ball marking feature lets you know how far you hit with every club.

These features give critical course information that helps you make better decisions at play, and the Digital Scorecard lets you keep track of your progress. Accuracy of maps and distance information is important in these kind of devices, and the SkyCaddie SG3 provides that with its ground-verified course maps.

A membership plan is available for the SkyCaddie SG3 that allows you to download up to 30.000 courses

A SkyCaddie membership plan is required to access to up to 30,000 course maps worldwide. Plan fees range from $29.95 to $129.95 annually. There are those who don’t mind paying for the fees knowing that they’re getting accurate information that’s constantly updated.

This SkyCaddie SG3 review wouldn’t be complete without the negitive points of this product like battery life. Manufacturers of different brands have yet to properly address this common concern. Being powerd by 3 AAA batteries, battery life won’t be long. A simple remedy would be to bring rechargeable batteries.

SkyCaddie SG3 Review Final Thoughts

The SkyCaddie SG3 has all the necessary features of a golf GPS. Ultimately, it is the player him/herself who decides if this particular model suits his/her style and game, or if he/she prefers one that’s more fancy with more features, or one that’s even more basic than the SkyCaddie SG3.

Yonex Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Iron Review & Buyers’ Guide 2019

In 1982, Japanese-based Yonex introduced the world’s first all-graphite head driver, and the company has continued to achieve a lot of firsts in the golf industry; the company introduced the first widebody club heads and all-graphite head on an iron. The company’s new line of Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Irons includes long irons, mid irons, and short irons, each designed specifically to conquer parts of the course.

Yonex Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Iron Details

Yonex Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Iron

The Yonex Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Iron is designed to replace the traditional 3-iron. Its wide cavity and large sole create a club that has a deep center of gravity. With a 3D Power Weight System, the clubhead’s weight is distributed for a high moment of inertia and more control.

The Yonex Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Iron is a top pick from Yonex’s Nanospeed 3i line. The hybrid replaces traditional long irons that can be difficult to control and achieve desired distance. Like the rest of the Nanospeed 3i clubs, the hybrid has an exclusive Yonex NS100I carbon graphite shaft.

Another exclusive Yonex feature is the 3D Power Weight System, which controls the weight at the heel and toe of the head for a higher moment of inertia. The hybrid’s cavity is wide and its sole is long for a low center of gravity that launches the ball higher. Its head is compact in size for less twisting and greater forgiveness.

The Yonex Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Iron is available for right-handed players and has a 19 degree loft, 59 degree lie, and 40.5 inch length. The head is made of multiple materials: graphite for the crown and stainless steel for the face and body.

Yonex Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Iron Review

Professional and amateur reviews of the Yonex Nanospeed 3i e Hybrid Iron have been very positive. Customers have praised the hybrid as easier to use and more consistent than traditional irons. The hybrid’s performance was excellent: “ball flight is high and distance excellent,” the ultra-thin face delivers a lot of power, and the clubhead weighting serves to make the piece very forgiving.

While the hybrid looks a bit unusual, but, as one reviewer put it, “if this wacky design works, who cares what it looks like?” The hybrid is made of high quality material, and it will serve a golfer well on the course, and both new and experienced players will appreciate its features; it’s the kind of club that can continue to be used as a player improves.

TaylorMade Burner Plus Irons for Women Review for 2019

TaylorMade, the number one name in golf drivers, has been a leader in the golf industry since more than 30 years. After mastering the golf driver, the company has applied its award-winning driver technology to all kinds of golf clubs. TaylorMade’s Burner Plus line of clubs, the company’s improvement on the Burner line, comes highly rated and considered by some to be one of the best club sets.

TaylorMade Burner Plus Irons for Women Specifications

TaylorMade Burner Plus Irons for Women

TaylorMade Burner Plus Irons feature the company’s best technological advances, including SuperFast Technology, Inverted Cone Technology, and perimeter weighting. These key features, combined with a large faceplate, large offset, and high launch angle, together create a set of irons good enough for the pros, but designed for amateur players.

TaylorMade has improved their Burner line of clubs, which were rated highly, with the new Burner Plus line. TaylorMade Burner Plus Irons are the latest in a line of clubs from a golf industry leader.

Burner Plus Irons have TaylorMade’s exclusive SuperFast Technology, which uses the lightest shaft, metal material, and grips. Originally designed for TaylorMade’s drivers, Inverted Cone Technology uses a cone milled into the clubhead for a lowered center of gravity and improved consistency. A large clubface provides plenty of area for contact.

A multifunctional sole with a beveled back enables a smoother launch and reduced drag. Engineers have carefully designed the club to have distributed weigh at the perimeter of the club’s head; this weight shifting creates a high moment of inertia for greater forgiveness than other models on the market.

The steel-shafted Burner Plus Irons are available for men and women and are also available with graphite shafts.

TaylorMade Burner Plus Irons for Women Review

The TaylorMade Burner Plus Irons received an almost-perfect average score of 4.5 out of 5. Both high- and low-handicappers rated these irons highly for their overall quality, affordability, and easy handling. Reviewers found that the irons enabled them to achieve a “longer distance on a consistent basis” and shots that are “full length and straight.”

For some the difference in consistency was a big enough change that they had to adapt target selection; however, as one reviewer put it “is that such a terrible problem when the ball flies so true most of the time?” High handicappers, in particular, should be able to shave off some strokes with a set of these TaylorMade irons.

Nike Golf Method Core 3 Putter Review & Buyers Guide 2019

The world leader in the sports industry brings decades of expertise to the game of golf through the Nike Golf Division. With a wide range of golf products, including award-winning golf clubs, Nike Golf incorporate cutting edge technology into each piece.

Nike Golf Method Core 3 Putter

Nike Golf’s Method line of putters has been used by golf greats like Tiger Woods, Stewart Cink, and Lucas Glover. While the technology and design of Method putters makes them tour-worthy, the sticker price places them out of reach of many non-tour players.

Nike Golf Method Core 3 Putter Details

Thankfully, Nike released its Method Core Putters, a line that has the same technology as the Method putters with nearly similar performance, but with a lower price tag. The Nike Golf Method Core 3 Putter gives players the tool to experience faster, more controlled forward rolls.

The Nike Golf Method Core 3 Putter features the most up-to-date putter technology designed by the golf-industry leader, Nike Golf. Nike Golf Method putters’ key feature is the unique polymer-groove technology that promotes a faster ball roll off the green. The Method Core Putters have the same polymer grooves, but via an insert instead of etched into the putter’s face.

The polymetal insert reduces vibrations upon the putter’s impact with the ball; the putter creates a pure sound a feel upon impact. The Nike Golf Method Core putters provide less backspin than traditional putters, and less backspin equal less skidding and more control.

The putters are available with a 33 inch, 34 inch, or 35 inch shaft length. All of Nike Golf’s Method Core putters feature a black nickel finish for reduced glare on the green.

Nike Golf Method Core 3 Putter Review

Nike Golf’s Method Putter has been responsible for two major tour wins, which is just one indication of its performance capabilities. The Nike Method Putter helped golfer Paul Casey secure a tour win; he says of the putter, “you can really feel the difference of how the ball comes off the face and you can see the difference in how it rolls.”

Amateurs have praised Nike Golf for putting championship-winning technology into a putter that the average player can afford. One reviewer labeled it “a must buy for anyone looking to lower their scores.” Overall, reviews and testers confirmed Nike Golf’s claims that the Nike Golf Method Core 3 Putter achieves smooth, straight rolls with a soft feel. The putters are easy to line up and should improve the scores of many amateurs.

Callaway LR550 Review & Buyers’ Guide for 2019

The might of Callaway Golf has teamed up with the might of Nikon to produce the Callaway LR550 Rangefinder. With these two powerhouses working together, you can expect very good quality results, and the LR550 certainly does not disappoint.

In this article we are going to take a closer look at the Callaway LR550 Rangefinder to provide you with as much information about this model so that you can make an informed purchase decision. With so many rangefinders to choose from, it is important you get one that matches your requirements perfectly.

Callaway LR550

Two of the most important factors of any rangefinder are accuracy and ease of use. With golf, every yard counts, so having a range finder that is 1 or 2 yards off can cause you to make the wrong decisions with your club selection. You also do not want to be fiddling around with it forever trying to get the thing to give you the range. Fortunately the Callaway LR550 is extremely accurate, and easy to use too.

Callaway LR550 Details & Specs

Range and Accuracy

The Callaway LR550 has a range of up to 550 yards, which is more than enough distance to work with. With the Nikon components used to make the LR550, you get extremely accurate results, and they are delivered very quickly too. You do need to have a steady hand so that it can zoom into the right point and give you the right distance, but you can expect accurate and fast results each time.

It uses 6x optics, made by Nikon of course. Their anti-reflective coating used on the lenses eliminates any glare and also provides ultra-high resolution images, so you are able to zoom in to the point of focus quickly and easily.

Different Modes

There are different modes used on the Callaway LR550 to allow you to get the measurements for either the flag, or different objects such as bunkers and trees. The first target mode will enable you to get an accurate reading to the pin, even when there are trees and other objects in the background.

There is also a continuous mode, which can run for up to 8 seconds. This will enable you to get the right distances for multiple objects such as bunkers, water hazards and trees at the same time. Being able to have an accurate picture of the things ahead of you like this will really help you to get the ideal club for the next shot.

Ease of Use

The Callaway LR550 is extremely easy to use. There is just one button to operate and another to change the modes when required. There is also an LCD display that shows you all of your distances. This display is very clear, and you can read it even when it is really bright and sunny.

The compact size of the Callaway LR550 makes it very easy to carry around with you. It will fit nicely into any of the smaller pockets on your golf bag, or you can even carry it on your person and it will not present any hindrance to your swing at all.

Callaway LR550 Review

Overall thoughts on the Callaway LR550:

With its ease of use, accuracy and compact size there is really no negative areas to this rangefinder. The Nikon components used inside ensure that the results you get back are right on the money each time. The case is also waterproof, so you do not have to worry about it if (and when) the weather takes a turn for the worse. Overall the Callaway LR550 is a really good quality rangefinder that does everything it is supposed to do extremely well.

FORGAN Series 1 Golf Club Titanium 460cc Driver Review 2019

The oldest company in the golf industry, FORGAN, began in 1860 in the home of golf, St. Andrews. A long, prestigious history precedes the company that makes golf clubs out of a 14,000 square foot facility in California. FORGAN golf clubs are played and loved around the world and used by both men and women.

FORGAN Series 1 Golf Club Titanium 460cc Driver

The FORGAN Series 1 Golf Club Titanium 460cc Driver offers “precision weight balanced for ultimate performance.” A new design by FORGAN, the Series 1 Driver has a clubhead with multiple features. The all-titanium clubhead comes in the largest size legal, a 460cc head. A larger clubhead means a higher moment of inertia for greater forgiveness and reliability.

A large sweetspot in the center of the club directly behind its powerful center puts explosive power behind the ball, which leads to faster and longer drives. The club is carefully constructed to have a very low center of gravity for greater distance.

FORGAN Series 1 Golf Club Titanium 460cc Driver Review

Overall, the club has a solid, stable feel for better control through the swing and accurate feedback. The club offers a ladies flex shaft for a bit more “give” preferred by the typical lady golfer. Silver and green accents color the club and the included matching headcover.

Reviews and users have praised the FORGAN Series 1 Golf Club Titanium 460cc Driver with enthusiastic comments like “WOW! This thing hits straight as an arrow for me and FAR. Every one of my drives was right on target. I love this Driver!!” For a high quality driver with an oversized head at a very reasonable price, FORGAN Golf offers a versatile driver in the Series 1.

TaylorMade Burner Superfast #3 Fairway Woods

TaylorMade Golf may be the golf industry’s top name in drivers, but that does not mean that they have excelled at designing other clubs. The company’s most popular line, its Burner series, has drivers, irons, fairway woods, and rescue clubs for men and women.

TaylorMade Burner Superfast #3 Fairway Woods Specs

TaylorMade Burner Superfast #3 Fairway Woods

One of TaylorMade’s recent releases is its set of Burner SuperFast Fairway Woods, which have upgrades to the original line that allow players to reach even faster club and ball speeds. The TaylorMade Burner Superfast #3 Fairway Woods are designed to replace the traditional 3-irons and are built for greater speed, higher trajectories, and farther drives than irons.

The club’s SuperFast name and nickname of “speed demon” stem from new improvements to the woods: a lighter overall weight, larger head, and longer shaft length. The result is an amazingly fast and lightweight club that has been highly reviewed for its ability to achieve distances that rival drivers and an extremely high ball flight.

TaylorMade’s line of Burner clubs was first released in 2007, and each year has featured new releases and updates to the line. In 2010, the company released a new set of fairway clubs, including the TaylorMade Burner Superfast #3 Fairway Woods.

The clubhead of the Burner Superfast #3 Fairway Wood is bigger than previous Burner woods; in fact, its 200cc head is the largest steel head on any TaylorMade wood. The larger head has a larger face that offers players more forgiveness and confidence. The headshape itself is newly redesigned with a rounded crown for improve aerodynamics and reduced drag.

TaylorMade engineers have been able to get this fairway wood down to an impressively low 301 gram total weight. They achieve this with the lightweight Matrix Ozik X-Con 4.8 graphite shaft and superlight 30g Winn grip that has superior feel and traction. Also, the clubhead has ultra-thin walls that are .6mm thick, which is as much as 40 percent thinner than competitor clubs.

TaylorMade Burner Superfast #3 Fairway Woods Review

Overall, the TaylorMade Burner Superfast #3 Fairway Woods has received nearly 5 out of 5 stars for distance, playability, and appearance. The club’s nickel and black colors and large, fast-looking triangular head are very appealing and inspire confidence on the course.

Reviewers and testers found the clubs easy to use and quick to master; the larger sweetspot made the club particularly easy to hit and very forgiving. The majority of reviews of this club focused on its impressive performance. Players achieved “more controlled shots with greater distance.”

With an extensive list of tour players from the PGA and LPGA who use their clubs, Nike Golf is a top name in the golf industry. With a parent company that is a world leader in sports, it is no wonder that Nike Golf continues to maintain a solid share in the golf industry.

With a full line of tour-tested golf gear, including clubs, balls, tees, and accessories, Nike Golf brings professional technology to both tour players and amateurs. Nike’s Machspeed line focuses on helping golfers get more ball speed in order to achieve greater distance.

Nike Machspeed 3 Hybrid Details

Nike Machspeed 3 Hybrid

One of only two hybrids Nike Golf currently has available, the Nike Machspeed 3 Hybrid features an aerodynamic square shape with an overall light weight for faster swings with less drag. This graphite-shafted hybrid has received high marks for its stability, speed, and distance.

The Nike Machspeed 3 Hybrid is grounded in what Nike terms “The Oven,” which is partly responsible for the club’s large open shape. This large, square design is engineered for optimal aerodynamics; air moves quickly and smoothly around the clubhead, reducing the drag that other clubs offer.

Within the square head, weight has been shifted to the perimeter, which delivers greater stability and more forgiveness. In addition, the Machspeed 3 Hybrid has an ultra-thin face and a Split Compression Channel that allows more power to connect with the ball directly for longer shots. Its graphite shaft is lightweight at only 70 grams and is long as 40 inches; Nike engineers have given the club these specifications to improve swing speed even more.

The Nike Machspeed 3 Hybrid has a loft of 21 degrees, a lie of 59.5 degrees, and a D2 swingweight. The Nike Machspeed 3 Hybrid has received a host of perfect five star reviews.

Nike Machspeed 3 Hybrid Review

The hybrid has been most used and reviewed by intermediate players who are looking for a hybrid to even out their current set of golf clubs and help hit shots that their irons miss. Players love the “unbelievable sweet spot” and “very long and very forgiving” shots that the hybrid gets.

This hybrid gets long, straight distance with a soft landing on the green. Even reviewers who have struggled with other hybrids found this one from Nike easy to master. With a combination of quality and versatility, the Machspeed 3 is an excellent first, or second, hybrid to invest in.

Callaway FT-iZ Hybrid Review & Buyers’ Guide 2019

One of the most award-winning names in the golf industry, Callaway Golf offers golf gear for any level of players, from casual players to tour players. With a mission to give golfers the tools needed to enjoy the game and experience success on the course, Callaway Golf has developed exclusive technology to enhance the performance, feel, and sound of their clubs.

Callaway FT-iZ Hybrid Specs

Callaway FT-iZ Hybrid

Named in part for its Fusion Technology, the Callaway FT iZ Hybrid stood out among 400 clubs to be awarded a gold medal in Golf Digest’s 2010 Hot List. Fusion Technology outfits the clubhead with a strong, stainless steel body and sole with specialized weighting for a higher moment of inertia and lower center of gravity.

With a large clubhead, offset hosel, and exclusive VFT technology, this hybrid offers plenty of stability and forgiveness. Reviews have praised the hybrid’s ability to get fast ball speeds, long drives, and straight shots, all with less of a tendency towards twisting than other hybrids.

Hybrid clubs have increased in popularity among golfers in recent years, and for good reason: hybrids enable players to achieve distances and to get out of tight spots better than traditional irons. As one golfer puts it, “If any club should be ruled illegal, it should be the hybrid. It makes the game almost too easy.”

Callaway FT-iZ Hybrid Review

Callaway Golf has produced another winner of a club with the Callaway FT-iZ Hybrid. Fusion Technology creates the clubhead out of stainless steel with Metal Injection Molded and high-density weights for the most optimal weight distribution.

The result is a club with a higher moment of inertia and lower center of gravity that achieves high, long drives. The clubhead is large with a huge sweetspot and plenty of stability.

Callaway’s exclusive VFT technology maximized the face of the club; the face is thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges to get more power behind the ball. These hybrids have an offset hosel, graphite shafts, and a 40.25” length.

Besides being a gold medal winner in Golf Digest’s 2010 Hot List, the Callaway FT-iZ Hybrid has received more praise from testers and players alike. Known for its ability to get a shot with “high, straight, repeatable flight with soft landing,” this hybrid has the ability to excel even in the roughest parts of the course.

The size of the clubhead and the offset shaft give players stability, forgiveness, and the ability to swing without fear of twisting

Texan Classics creates clubs with high-end technology at an incredibly affordable price. The Texas Classics Hot White Ball Putter 35” can be compared to the Odyssey White Hot Putter, a top-of-the-line putter with a hefty price tag. It’s that soft White Polymer Insert that creates a true roll and more accurate alignment.

With a solid steel shaft, the putter has a quality feel, and its Texan Classics all-weather grip adds comfort and protection. Texan Classics offers a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Texan Classics Hot White Ball Putter 35 Review

With an overall rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 stars, the Texan Classics Hot White Ball Putter 35” provides exceptional quality and performance for an incredible price. Its sharp looks and quality feel give golfers the confidence needed on the course.

The most noted feature was the putter’s ability to hit straight shots and experience true roll. One reviewer called it like “hitting pure putts.” Golfers can count on this putter’s accuracy, which is the most important thing to get out of a putter.

Some reviews found it a bit heavier than other putters, but golfers found that the weight helps eliminate any wobbling for a straighter putt. Most reviewers, both high- and mid-handicappers, saw an immediate game improvement.

Callaway Women’s RAZR Hawk Driver Review & Buyers’ Guide

Callaway, arguably the most popular name in golf, has released a new driver that takes the best features of the FT-9 and, as the company puts it, “takes a giant leap forward.” Forged Composite material is the most noteworthy difference between the FT-9 and the newer Callaway Women’s RAZR Hawk Driver.

California-based Callaway Golf has a long history in the game and is one of the few names in the golf industry that creates clubs for the masses that are also used by the pros.

Callaway Women’s RAZR Hawk Driver Details

Callaway Women’s RAZR Hawk Driver

With the Callaway Women’s RAZR Hawk Driver, Callaway brings lady golfers the result of a joint effort between the company’s award-winning designers and the makers of Lamborghini. The result is the use of Forged Composite to create a driver that that is lighter, stronger and faster club that those on the market.

It is the club’s Forged Composite and aerodynamic design that set it apart from other drivers, even other drivers by Callaway. Forged Composite technology is a new material that is strong than titanium with merely a third of the density. Thus, the clubhead’s thickness is expertly designed, resulting in a head that is strong and lighter than those before it.

A combination of the new clubhead material and the club’s extra-long shaft mean that players can get faster swings, faster ball speeds and greater distance, a combination that the company says means that players will face “no tradeoffs.”

The club’s name comes from its aerodynamic shape, which has been redesigned for a significant reduction in drag. In fact, the RAZR has 43 percent less drag resistance than the FT-9. Imagine how 43 percent less drag could affect a swing: higher impact speeds and greater distance. Callaway’s exclusive Razr Weighting System and Hyberbolic Face Technology also contribute to the driver’s performance.

Exclusively for women, the Callaway Women’s RAZR Hawk Driver comes in 11.5 degree and 13.5 degree lofts, both with a length of 44.5 inches. The Aldila RP Graphite Shaft ensures that the club handles smoothly with the right amount of flex.

Callaway Women’s RAZR Hawk Driver Review

After testing the Callaway RAZR Hawk, Golf Magazine rated the drivers at the top of the pack in all categories. Testers saw as much as 20 extra yards with consistent results. With plenty of forgiveness, a stable feel during swing and a pleasing headshape and look, the RAZR was “among the top-rated models in the test.”

Even for women with a moderate swing speed, the RAZR really delivers. There may be drivers out there that get a bit more distance, but the RAZR delivers distance and the ability to shape shots.

Adams Golf Speedline F11 Fairway Wood Review & Buyers’ Guide

Adams Golf, an industry leader that specializes in bringing hybrid-iron technology to the full range of clubs, follows the motto of being “driven by inspiration.” That inspiration is behind the Speedline series, a set of clubs designed on the hybrid premise with the ability to function widely around the course. Speedline clubs featured ease of use, high ball speed, low spin, and greater distance.

Adams Golf Speedline F11 Fairway Wood Specs

Adams Golf Speedline F11 Fairway Wood

Adams Golf has taken the Speedline series to the next level with the recently introduced Adams Golf Speedline F11 Fairway Wood. Velocity Slot Technology is the biggest new improvement, and that technology has resulted in 21 percent more forgiveness, higher ball speeds, and up to 12 additional yards of distance.

Tour pros like Ryan Moore and Tom Watson use this fairway wood, and reviews from non-tour players have been very positive.

The Adams Golf Speedline F11 Fairway Wood is designed to offer hybrid- and driver-inspired technology all in a single, easy-to-use, and versatile club. Such an expansive goal requires significant technological breakthroughs.

Adams Golf has introduced the Velocity Slot Technology, which consists of a visible channel on the crown and sole that serve to keep airflow with the club longer. The result of Velocity Slot Technology is impressive: a spring-like effect that offers 21 percent greater forgiveness, higher ball speeds, and as much as 12 additional yards.

The key to the club’s performance is in its effect on the club’s coefficient of restitution, or COR, or bounciness. As an Adam Golf’s staff member puts it, “Historically, fairway woods had relatively low COR values due to the fact that their head and face sizes had to remain smaller for playability purposes.”

Velocity Slot Technology has created an expanded COR without having to increase the size of the clubhead. In all, the wood is Adam Golf’s longest and most forgiving fairway wood to date; it offers the distance of a driver, the versatility of a hybrid, and the consistency of a fairway wood.

Adams Golf Speedline F11 Fairway Wood Review

Adams Golf has really introduced something new with the Adams Golf Speedline F11 Fairway Wood. While many companies introduce new terms for their technology, much of the basics stay the same. Not so with the Speedline F11; the Velocity Slot Technology is very different.

While the look of the slot on the club takes some getting used to visually, the club’s performance is difficult to argue with. Players found that it gave them the benefits of a hybrid in a fairway wood, so the F11 actually had more versatility than either of those types of clubs.

Leupold GX-2 Review & Buyers’ Guide 2019

The Leupold GX-2 is a snazzier version of the GX-1. Visually, the only difference is its silver color. But the similarity ends there. For the GX-2, Leupold has added two useful features – True Golf Range™ (TGR™) and Club Selector.

The Leupold GX-2 succeeds the GX-II (introduced in 2008). Like the GX-1′s evolution from the GX-I, Prism Lock and Fog Mode are new additions from the earlier version.

Leupold GX-2 Overview

Leupold GX-2

Light and compact, the GX-2 has a vertical orientation. Like all the range finders we’ve reviewed so far, it’s meant to be used with one hand. (We’ll get to the bigger models soon, we promise!)

Unlike the GX-1, the Leupold GX-2 is not tournament-legal, as the TGR™ and Club Selector functions go beyond measuring simple line-of-sight distances. So if you’re looking for a range finder for tournament play, consider the GX-1 or Callaway LR550.

Leupold GX-2 Specifications

  • Weight: 6.8 ounces
  • Dimensions: 4 x 2.75 x 1.5 inches
  • Maximum Range: 750 yards, accuracy to within 1 yard/meter
  • Reflective targets: 750 yards
  • Trees: 600 yards
  • Flag: 400 yards
  • Magnification: 6x
  • Battery type: CR-2 lithium
  • Weatherproof

What’s In The Box

Included with the Leupold GX-2 are:

  • Carrying case
  • Lanyard
  • CR-2 lithium battery
  • Manual

The Leupold GX-2 In-Depth

What’s New in The GX-2?

The GX-2 boasts two features not found in the old GX-II – Fog Mode and Prism Lock.

For die-hards who doesn’t mind playing in less than ideal weather, the Leupold GX-2′s Fog Mode comes in handy. It screens out false readings from fog, drizzle and rain to maintain accuracy. Fog Mode is always on, but can be turned off in the Options menu.

If your favorite courses are equipped with prisms on the flagsticks, you’ll enjoy the Prism Lock feature. The Leupold GX-2 will sound a beep when it locks onto a prism as you’re scanning the course ahead. So that the readout won’t be lost if you scan past the pin, the display will freeze with the distance at which the prism was detected.

Form Factor

Like the GX-1 and other “one-hand” range finders, the Leupold GX-2 fits nicely in your pocket. The case is also fitted with a clip you can use to attach it to your golf bag.

Range

The advertised maximum range of the Leupold GX-2 of 750 yards is lower than its competitors. But we think 1000+ yard ranging capability is just marketing hype anyway. It’s hard to imagine a real need measure that kind of distance on the course.

The GX-2 can capture the distance to the pin from up to 400 yards, as per the manual. Our experience shows the GX-2 performs consistently well to around 300 yards. Once you go beyond that, it’s likely to take a few tries before you get a reading you can feel confident in.

Magnification

The 6x magnification of the GX-2 is squarely middle of the road in comparison to most other range finders. In our view, though, it’s more than adequate on the course.

Like the GX-1, the GX-2 also features 7 user-selectable aiming reticles (cross-hairs).

Operational Features

The Leupold GX-2 has two features that distinguish it from the otherwise identical GX-1: True Golf Range™ (TGR™) and Club Selector.

Like the Bushnell Tour V2, the GX-2 takes into account the slope of the terrain between you and the green (or other target) to determine a more accurate distance for the next shot. With TGR, the Leupold GX-2 goes even further by factoring in altitude and air temperature. Both variables must be entered into the device manually. The GX-2 does not determine them on its own.

Closely tied to TGR is Leupold’s Club Selector, a nifty feature that recommends which iron to use based on the “true” distance determined by TGR. The Club Selector is not available unless TGR is turned on.

Club Selector should be calibrated by entering the average distance you hit with your 8, 6 and 4-irons. From those figures, the GX-2 determines your distances for the other irons using a special algorithm. Without information about your personal distances, Club Selector will use presets of 130 yards for an 8-iron, 150 for a 6-iron, and 170 yards for a 4-iron.

Like the GX-1, the Leupold GX-2 has the PinHunter feature that makes it easier to range the flagstick. Signals from more distant objects in the background are ignored in favor of (possibly weaker) signals from nearer objects. So, if there is a stand of trees behind the pin, the GX-2 will be able to distinguish the stick from them.

As with the GX-1, PinHunter is an “always on” feature of the GX-2. There is no need to switch back and forth between scanning and attempting to lock onto the pin, a convenience we very much appreciate.

Leupold GX-2: Our Opinion

The GX-2 is an excellent range finder that we wholeheartedly recommend. It’s as accurate as the GX-1, and we’re fans of Leupold’s Prism Lock and “always on” PinHunter features.

The TGR and Club Selector features add to its appeal for us, technology buffs that we are. While they make the Leupold GX-2 illegal for tournament play, they’re definitely nice to have. Plus, the GX-2 can be used during practice rounds to map out the course ahead of time and take some detailed notes.

Even with TGR, there are still some things you need to account for yourself. Wind speed and direction, humidity, and how the course is playing on a given day will all impact your game. Despite today’s technological advances, there is still much room in golf for good old human judgment.

Leupold GX-2: The Negatives

As we pointed out in our Leupold GX-1 review, the yardage readout shows in the upper part of the display. Unfortunately, this occasionally causes some difficulty reading the yardage when there are dark objects in the background, such as trees.

We’d also like to see Leupold stand more firmly behind the GX-2 with a warranty longer than one year.

What Other Golfers Are Saying About The Leupold GX-2

The majority of Leupold GX-2 buyers are happy with their purchase. Amazon buyers give the GX-2 4 stars from a possible 5. Excerpts from buyer comments are paraphrased below:

“Very pleased with my purchase.”

“The GX-2 is a game changer.”

“Quick readings, never had to wait.”

“Its capabilities live up to the marketing claims.”

“Love the size, it’s so easy to handle.”

Bushnell Pro 1600 vs Bushnell Tour V2: In-Depth Comparison

The Bushnell Pro 1600 and the Bushnell Tour V2 are a couple of the more popular laser golf range finders. Those seriously considering a Bushnell model often ask about the differences between these two units, so we thought it would be helpful to provide a side-by-side comparison of the two.

Range

Bushnell Tour V2

Bushnell Pro 1600 vs Bushnell Tour V2 – Tour V2The Pro 1600 has a maximum range of 1600 yards and 400 yards to the flag. The Tour V2 is does not have as high of a range, only going up to 1,000 yards and 300 yards to the flag. Both of these top ranges are much more than you will ever need. What matters is whether or not you can shoot the flag on the course from where your ball lies.

We found that the Pro 1600 was much faster for returning yardages and was able to capture the flag much easier as well. The V2 simply takes longer when you need a reading, and it gets slower the further out you get.

Advantage: Pro 1600

Magnification

The Bushnell Pro 1600 model features 7x magnification, whereas the Bushnell Tour V2 only has 5x. This is not a huge difference when you are trying to target a flag, but the Pro 1600 does give you a more accurate eye to catch the flag. This advantage becomes more noticeable when you are trying to range the edge of a hazard or a specific tree.

Depending on the type of golfer you are and how steady your hands are you may prefer the lower 5x over the 7x of the Pro 1600 model. To use the 7x properly you do have to steady the range finder quite a bit and this can be an issue for some people.

We, however, prefer the higher magnification of the 1600.

Advantage: Pro 1600

Features

Bushnell Pro 1600

Both rangefinders have about the same features, but the Bushnell Pro 1600 does have a few advantages when it comes to the features. The both have a pin seeker mode to help zero in on the flag. They both also feature a scan mode for multiple yardages while panning the target area.

However, the Pro 1600 has a twist up metal eye piece with an oversized ocular. It is also waterproof, whereas the Tour V2 is not completely waterproof, but water-resistant.

Advantage: Pro 1600

Ease of Use

When it comes to how easy these two range finders are to use there is not much difference. However, the Pro 1600 is one of the newer models and the twist up eyepiece can make it much easier to use for some golfers. The Pro 1600 is also larger, which some will prefer over the very small V2

Both rangefinders have a very similar display and getting accurate yardages is quite easy.

It is hard to say that one of these is better than the other when it comes to how easy they are to use. The Pro 1600 is preferred by those that want a larger range finder, whereas the V2 is just as easy to use, but it is much smaller. This category is a tie between the two and it really comes down to a personal preference.

Advantage: None

Battery

The Bushnell Pro 1600 uses an easy to find 9-volt battery, whereas the Bushnell Tour V2 uses a 3-volt lithium “camera” type of battery. You will get a large amount of life out of the lithium battery in the Tour V2, but the 9-volt batteries are cheaper to purchase and easier to find.

There are not many issues with either of these types of batteries even though some have stated they get very little life out of the lithium batteries. Others have said they don’t have to change their battery more than once or twice a year, while playing a few rounds a week. Again, this category is a tie because some will prefer one battery over the other.

Advantage: none

Warranty

Both the Bushnell Pro 1600 and the Bushnell Tour V2 are covered by a two year warranty.

When you are spending a few hundred dollars on a tool for your golf game it is expected that it should be covered for a reasonable amount of time. You need to make sure whichever rangefinder you choose has a full warranty for at least a couple of years. Since both of these are covered for the same amount of time this is another category that is a tie.

Advantage: none

Our Pick: The Bushnell Pro 1600

It should not be much of a surprise that we recommend the Bushnell Pro 1600 over the Bushnell Tour V2. The Pro 1600 is simply packed with more features and is able to do more for you than the Tour V2. With higher magnification and faster, more accurate readings, it’s clearly superior to the V2.

What About Price?

This may be the only reason you may want to consider the Tour V2 over the Pro 1600. The Pro 1600 is a bit more expensive than the Tour V2, but you do get what you pay for. The better value is in the Pro 1600 because it is simply a better rangefinder than the cheaper Tour V2.

When it comes to your own personal preference you may choose the Bushnell Tour V2 if you want a smaller rangefinder. However, if you are able to spend a bit more money you can get a much more advanced rangefinder in the Bushnell Pro 1600.

Bushnell Pro 1M Review & Buyers’ Guide 2019

The Bushnell Pro 1M is the most recent addition to the brand’s roster of top laser rangefinders on tour. It is engineered with further improvements to its predecessor, the Bushnell Pro 1M 1600. One of the most advanced features added to the Pro 1M is its Vivid Display Technology, which makes it the ultimate laser rangefinder for serious golfers and professional golf tours.

Bushnell Pro 1M review

Slope Edition Technology

The patented Slope technology works by calculating and adjusting the yardage based on the degree of the slope. This means that you will get compensated pin distances whether it’s downhill or uphill, thus letting you make the proper club selection for better shots.

The 100 percent water proof construction of the Bushnell Pro 1M keeps it fully functional not just on clear and sunny skies, but on rainy days too. The unit is a horizontally-held design, which solves the issues with vertical laser rangefinders that involve unsteady, one-handed operation.

To help get more control over the rangefinder, it uses a tacky rubber grip. The outer shell is layered with tacky and comfy rubber material so fingers interact snugly with the rangefinder for a non-slip, ergonomic use. The Bushnell Pro 1M comes with a premium carrying case and is covered with a 2 year limited warranty.

Bushnell Pro 1M: Final Thoughts

Distance, accuracy and ease of use are all prominent features of this rangefinder. The slope technology used also helps to bring you back the perfect distances, no matter what the elevation is for your next shot. Overall, the Bushnell Pro 1M is one of the premium range finders and really delivers the information you want quickly and accurately.
